Twice A Hero by Susan Krinard is the story of MacKenzie "Mac" Sinclair
and her battle to lift a curse of over 100 years from her family.
Mac, raised by her grandfather, promises him on his death bed that she
will travel to the Mayan ruins where their ancestor was cursed after leaving
his partner Liam O'Shea to die.
Mac travels to the ruins with half of a pendent from the temple and by a strange twist of fate she finds Liam O'Shea. Twice.
First she finds his bones and with them the other half of her pendent. Then as she places the two halves together she finds the second Liam O'Shea, alive, well, 113 years in the past and seductively real.
Liam has already been abandoned by Mac's ancestor Perry but when the time for his life to end comes Mac cannot stand by and watch.
His life saved, Liam returns to San Francisco to wed his ward, and Macs ancestor.
There is only one course of action. Mac must stop this wedding taking place, and the only way to do that is to make Liam fall in love with her as much as she is with him.
Despite Mac's proof of the future Liam is surprisingly sceptic about her story. Other than this minor point this story is humorous, well told and begs for a sequel to be made.
