Undead and

      Unemployed

Undead and Unemployed by Mary Janice Davidson

Undead and Unemployed by Mary Janice Davidson is the sequel to the extremely amusing Undead and Unwed.

Betsy is still dead and is now the new Vampire Queen.  Although she does not want him and thinks that he tricked her into it Eric Sinclair is her king for the next 1000 years.

Sinclair is not above telling Betsy what to do and cannot understand why she does not comply with his wishes.  One can only wonder at his lack of knowledge at modern women. However Betsy in true twenty first century female form is quick to put him in his place and will carry on with her existence regardless of what he says.

Her first order of business is to find herself a new job, readers of Undead and Unwed will recall that before dying she had also lost her job...it just was not her day.

But being dead means that she can only work the night shift and by a bit of luck she finds her dream job selling shoes at Macy's.   Though whether she can keep the job when she is reluctant to sell any pairs to the "wrong sort" of shopper is rather debatable.

Sinclair of course is not happy that Betsy is going out working and even shows up at the store to try and get her fired by using his powers on her boss.

But the battle of the sexes between the new king and queen takes a back seat when a group of vampire hunters make their presence known by killing vampires around the city and attacking Tina and Monique, one of the new vampires in town who has turned up following the defeat of the previous reigning king.

Monique and Sarah have arrived in town and are offering their loyalty to Betsy, although Sarah is openly hostile and a reluctant subject.  Everyone is a suspect in the murders and when Betsy herself is attacked in an ambush she knows that her dream job will have to wait until the gang are caught.

Things take an interesting twist when the gang (known as the Blade Warriors) and the vampires combine forces to try to discover who has been pulling their strings.

Thankfully with all the new characters introduced Betsy's friend Jennifer has decided that she will move in with Betsy and her lodger Marc and they will all move into a new house...read huge mansion...where they will have the room to entertain, a morgue in the basement and resident ghosts too.

Another extremely funny story from Ms Davidson and it leaves the door open for more of the same.  I would like to see more of Detective Nick Berry who was a bit lacking in this book but this is more than made up for by the introduction of a whole new bunch of characters.

Witty and at times even laugh out loud funny.  Not as hysterically funny as the first book but still well worth picking up.
