Unearthed by C J Barry is an Other World romance.  Tess MacKenzie is a modern day American woman.  A singer by profession she has yet to hit the big time but her big break is just around the corner.

Unfortunately before she reaches that corner she finds herself mugged.  Her rescuer is a gorgeous man with a robotic companion.  A man who promptly kidnaps her and takes her off of Earth and to another world.

Cohl has searched for the voice that will act as the key to a treasure that will save his people and at last he has found her.  Unfortunately rather than ask for her help he decides not to risk her refusal and takes her off in his space ship without her permission.

Tess is far from happy to be kidnapped when her career is at stake.  Taken to Cohl's home world of Yre Gault she soon finds out that her kidnapper is in fact a prince and the robot is his protector and bodyguard.

She is not on his world for long before realising that he is telling the truth about the danger to his people.  Cohl's father is being held to ransom for an amulet that has the power to stop or cause wars.  An amulet that can control people and has been lost for centuries.

Now Cohl must obtain the amulet in return for his father's life.  But even though he and his companions have an idea of where it is he will need Tess's help to get to it. 

Of course the problem if they get the amulet is what to do with it.  The people who have kidnapped his father are from a world where two brothers have divided the planet into two and are fighting each other for full control.  Neither is a particularly ideal choice for a trustworthy or noble leader.  But first they must find the amulet.

With both sides in the war hot on their heels Tess and Cohl travel through space to find the amulet.

This novel is a fast-paced adventure and, of course, a romance.  Cohl and Tess are obviously perfect for each other but despite his Cohl's rejection of his heritage he cannot leave his world for Earth and Tess has her own life on Earth with her singing career and family. 

A joy to read...lively and entertaining.  Just how a futuristic romance should be.
