Touch of the Wolf by Susan Krinard is the first novel in her historical
werewolf trilogy.
This first instalment is the story of Braden Forster, Earl of Greyburn, a werewolf who has taken on the seemingly impossible task of restoring the purity of his werewolf bloodline. He had given up hope of finding his lost American family until the day his distant cousin Cassidy Holt appeared on his doorstep in London.
Cassidy is immediately recognised as one of blood and Braden takes her to his country estate where he has already chosen a husband for her. His brother Quentin.
But things will never go entirely to plan and both Cassidy and Braden have secrets that they keep from the other. Braden cannot allow himself to marry Cassidy himself because he feels his own blood is tainted by the fact that he believes he cannot have children. Cassidy meanwhile may be werewolf by heritage but she has never been taught about her gifts and has no idea how to change into her wolf form.
The reader can tell from the start that the two of them are destined to be together but it is a long journey before Braden realises his destiny and only with Cassidy’s help can the truth about his dark past be uncovered.
Set in the past Ms Krinard opens up a world of werewolf politics and power in Touch of the Wolf and begins to weave together the threads of her previous werewolf novels and those that are yet to come.
Powerful and spellbinding Touch of the Wolf is a wonderful novel and just what we expect of Ms Krinard.
