To Tame a
      Highland Warrior

To Tame a Highland Warrior by Karen Marie MoningTo Tame a Highland Warrior by Karen Marie Moning is the sequel to the outstanding Beyond the Highland Mist and is the book that finally lets us in on just what Adrienne wished on Grimm at the end of Ms Moning’s debut novel.

Gavrael “Grimm” McIllioch was just a child when the McKane attacked his people.  Powerless to help he stood on the hillside and called on the Berserker to help him.

Transformed by supernatural powers to a blue-eyes warrior with strength enough to defeat the McKane Gavrael fought bravely only to have his own people look on him in fear.  Fleeing the aftermath of the battle and with the belief that his father has murdered his mother Gavrael changes his name to Grimm Roberick and seeks refuge with the St Clair family.

Years later he leaves the St Clairs when he realises that he is in love with Jillian, the beautiful and wilful daughter of the family.

Believing that his father murdered his mother because of a hereditary madness Grimm fears that this illness could pass to him and combined with the berserker power he could bring danger to Jillian.

Leaving her and setting out alone in the world he decides to turn his back on that part of his life forever.

The years pass and Grimm has no plans of returning to Jillian.  However Jillian’s parents have other plans.

Gibraltar and Elizabeth are at their wits’ ends with the problem of trying to find Jillian a husband.  Each man they bring to court his is quickly put off from the idea by their clever, yet cunning daughter.  As a last resort they decide to leave their daughter alone in the castle with the job of entertaining three potential suitors.  Knowing her tricks of dispatching of men who come to court her they summon men they know will not fall for any of her scams.

Quinn de Moncreiffe and Ramsay Logan are the first two contenders for Jillian’s hand and both are determined to win for their own reasons.  Grimm is the final one of the three, and the only one who refuses to join in the contest.

Unfortunately for all his plans he soon discovers that he is the only one that Jillian wants and she is as stubborn now as on the day he left her home, and she is determined not to let him leave her a second time.

Grimm knows that her parents are aware of what he is but he never confided his secret in Jillian.  Furthermore he has no intention of doing so now.  But as someone who seeks to destroy him moves ever closer Grimm knows that the time has come to leave Jillian once more.

Leaving her with just two suitors to chose from the wedding is planned at her parents’ insistence and time is running out for Grimm to come to her rescue.

Abducting her from the alter Grimm takes Jillian away with him and they begin their journey back to his home and his father and the terrible secrets of his past that he must finally face before he can start his life with Jillian.

In To Tame a Highland Warrior Ms Moning has taken an ancient legend and turned it into a gripping new novel set in the Highlands of the 16th century.  With lots of wonderful humour, especially after Grimm’s return home, this novel is a great addition to the paranormal romance genre.

Ms Moning’s second novel is as good as her first and there are plenty of possibilities for another sequel here.
