Tall, Dark

      & Hungry

Tall, Dark & Hungry by Lynsay Sands

Tall, Dark & Hungry by Lynsay Sands is the third instalment of her new vampire series.

Readers of the series will already recall that Bastien Argeneau is suffering through the matchmaking attempts of his interfering mother.  Having fled to New York to escape her interference he finds himself not needing her help at all when Terri Simpson enters his life.

Terri is Kate's cousin and best friend and is flying into New York early to help with Kate and Lucern's wedding.  Unfortunately Kate's apartment is too crowded so Bastien agrees to let her stay in the spacious apartment his family keeps above their business in the city.

He doesn't think he will be seeing much of her at all until the crisis starts.

Firstly Kate's editor C.K. breaks his leg when a toilet falls on him so she is called out of town to take over his conference appearance.  Lucern goes with her which means that Bastien and Terri are going to have to keep the plans for the wedding running smoothly.  C.K. meanwhile has nowhere to stay until his apartment is fixed and so also moves into the Argeneau apartments.

It is starting to get crowded when Vincent, a vampire who must feed on living people, decides to stay too since he has the starring role in the new Broadway production Dracula: The Musical.

Bastien's ordered life is soon turned completely upside down and when the plans for the wedding start to fall apart at a rapid pace it is up to Bastien and Terri to ensure that Kate and Lucern make it to the alter as planned.

Terri does not realise that Bastien and his family are vampires and he has no intention of telling her the truth about himself.  He had confided in the woman he fell in love with centuries before but she had turned away from him and he has kept his secret ever since.  He does not want the same thing to happen again and so goes to great efforts to ensure that Terri does not figure out his secret.  Not an easy task when he agrees to take her shopping to the markets on a fine sunny day, not to mention stopping Vincent from biting everyone in sight.

But eventually Terri must find out the secret for herself and must make the choice as to whether she is prepared to accept Bastien knowing what he is or not.  But will she make the decision in time?

Tall, Dark & Hungry is another amusing instalment in this series and there is lots of comic relief with Ms Sands torture of editor C.K.  Fast paced and liberally dosed with humour this is another great read in the Argeneau Vampire series.

Here is hoping there is more to come from Vincent who I think would have a great story.  After all this vampire appears to have a great sense of humour, be surprisingly astute at times and there is the added complication that he bites!
