Stardust of Yesterday

Stardust of Yesterday by Lynn KurlandStardust of Yesterday by Lynn Kurland is the first novel in the Haunting Hearts series published by Jove/Putnam Berkley and in my opinion is one of the best.

Genevieve Buchanan is the owner of a successful  interior design business in the United States.  She focuses her life on her business success and has few friends and never dates.

A lonely romantic she is waiting for her knight in shining armour while she daydreams about the castle she would love to live in.

Then when the opportunity to have her own castle arrives she is scared of accepting the offer and retreats to her business.  Little does she know that the ghost of the castle is determined that the last of the Buchanan line should turn the castle over to him, the rightful owner.  And nothing is going to stop him.

Leaving her home and shattered business in the United States Genevieve retreats to her English castle with hopes of starting a new life.

On arrival at the castle Genevieve soon has the pleasure of meeting with the cursed ghost of Kendrick de Piaget and tells him in no uncertain terms that the castle is hers and she intends to stay.

With a stubbornness that matches his own Kendrick is firstly shocked by the woman who moves first into his castle, and then into his room.  She seems to have no fear of  him and blatantly walks through him and ignores his every command.  And when frightening her does not work, Kendrick begins to admire and then fall in love with the owner of his castle and becomes intent on winning her love instead.

But even if he should succeed in this mission they must still overcome the obstacles of his being a ghost and the curse that forces him to haunt the treacherous Buchanans until a past wrong is put right.

A wonderful book that can bring both laughter and tears.  A delightful story of ghostly romance and plenty of fun to be had at the expense of the infuriated Kendrick as he tries so desperately to scare and then woo Genevieve.

I particularly loved the other ghosts (Royce and Nazir) that occasionally stay at the castle and would love to see them feature in further books by Ms Kurland.
