Single Vampire

Sex and the Single Vampire by Katie MacAlister is the sequel to A Girl's Guide to Vampires, previously reviewed on this site and available in the archives.
Be warned that reading this review will give away some of the plot for the previous book.
Last time we saw author C J Dante, Christian, Joy and Roxy were threatening....er...promising to find his Beloved for him so that he will not be alone for all eternity.
Now he is about to meet her, the only thing is she is not a fan of his books and has no idea that vampires are not only real but that one of them is a bestselling author.
Luckily for Christian Allegra Telford is used to the unusual for she is a summoner of ghosts, albeit a not very successful one.
Allegra (Allie) has travelled to England in order to have one last shot at saving her career in the hopes of finding a ghost and using her training to summon it to her.
She is unprepared for her success when she accidentally discovers how she can summon ghosts and finds herself acquiring quite a collection of them. For whilst she can summon them and bind them to her she is unable to find a way to release them to the next world.
Haunted by terrifying dreams of Christian she has no idea that he is a real person until she finds her dream coming true as she searches a haunted inn for ghostly presences. Finding him bleeding to death in the basement she tries to help him but finds that he is far from happy at her interference and insists that he not only does not need her help he wants her out of the building.
Meeting him again at a book signing she attended for a friend she is shocked to find that he has not only recovered completely but that he recognises her too. She had half convinced herself she had imagined the whole incident.
Accompanied by Joy and Roxy who happily fill her in on what a Dark One is Allie finds herself drawn to Christian and irrevocably caught up in his life.
Christian's business in London is twofold. Not only has he his writing commitments he is also there to find a friend, a Dark One who has vanished and is being held prisoner by a paranormal society.
Teaming up together Allegra and Christian set about infiltrating the society and searching for his friend. But the power being tapped into by the members of the society is more powerful that Allegra has ever faced and even with her new confidence she does not know if she can win a battle against them.
She needs Christian and his love to convince her of the power that she has and the power that they have together.
Again this book is delightfully funny. I particularly liked the assortment of ghosts and found they were a wonderful addition to the story. Loved Christian's reaction to their wanting to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I did find it a little heavy going around the middle and found felt that the sex was getting in the way of the story of the society and rescue of Sebastian. It is rare that this happens but I felt that in this case it slowed the story down for me.
All in all this is another side-splitting story and begs for another sequel. The Morovian Dark Ones could easily out-vamp the Carpathians if they keep this out.
