Timeswept Rogue

Timeswept Rogue by Amy J FetzerTimeswept Rogue by Amy J Fetzer is a sequel to another time travel romance novel the title of which is My TimeSwept Heart.  Unfortunately I have not read the prequel because it is very hard to find.  However if I do get a copy I will be sure to add it here.

This story appears to pick up where the other left off and begins with Ramsey O'Keefe, adventurer and daredevil, leaping into a mysterious mist while at sea.  This mist is a portal to the future.

Ramsey, despite warnings from Tess (the time traveller from the prequel), believes that his true love is in the future and willingly takes the risk of travelling through time.

Sucked under the waves Ramsey is rescued by Penelope Hamilton, a movie star with a  past full of secrets, who is searching for a friend lost at sea.  And while she does not find her friend Tess, she does find the strange sea captain and is soon swept into a dangerous adventure.

But Ramsey and Penny cannot escape their pasts for long...

Tess has foreseen Penny's worry for her and sends her a parcel, saved for years in storage with strict instructions where and when to send it, it arrives for Penny at the same time as one for Ramsey arrives from Lloyds of London.

Recognising the handwriting she is tempted to open it but scared of the contents.   Penny puts off the inevitable for as long as she must.  Inside this chest is the truth about what has happened to Tess and a brief message concerning Ramsey.  The same Ramsey who Penny has already met and is now living, albeit as her bodyguard, with her.  And while she knew that he was strange, can she believe that he has travelled through time.

A brilliant book with plenty of mystery to the plot.  Just exactly what happened to Tess on the night she vanished? (though whether this was covered in the previous book I don't know), who is Penelope, an orphan with no recollection of her parents? and just what do the Blackwells of the 18th century have to do with the wealthy Rothmeres of the 20th century?  With plenty of shifty characters the plot thickens with every page.

But this is not all mystery.  There is laughter too as Ramsey finds himself swept into the life of a movie star.  Escaping from hospital with the help of Penny he soon finds that she is rather popular with the locals.  Mobbed when she leaves the car and hounded by the press, Ramsey makes it his own personal mission to rescue her as she saved him.

And inevitably there is the introduction of Ramsey to the modern conveniences of the modern world, with the usual humorous results.

This book is a great read, though I would recommend that you read the prequel first.  I didn't, and while I could follow the story I hate spoilers and reading the second book of a set is a definite way to ruin the plot of the first.
