The Reluctant Viking by Sandra Hill is part of the Timeswept series published by Lovespell and the only time travel romance I have read which involves the Vikings.  This should be remedied when I get hold of a copy of The Outlaw Viking, the sequel to this novel about one of the sub characters Selik.  But that is for another time.

This story is of Ruby Jordan who finds herself in the land of Vikings and warriors after listening to one of her husband's self motivation tapes.

Thinking that this tape will relax her and help to solve the problems of her marriage Ruby, a workaholic and part time wife and mother, settles back and falls asleep.  When she awakens she in on the deck of a ship where a Viking named Thork, the living image of her husband Jack, takes her breath away.

Believing that she is being given a second chance with an earlier incarnation of her husband she sets herself the task of winning back her love.

But things are not easy for her, and she finds herself mistaken for a spy.  Claiming kinship to one of her distant ancestors she hopes that this will buy her the time to gain the protection of Thork, but he is dead set against marriage to her or anyone else.

Determined, but ignorant of the dangers she is facing, and forcing others to face, Ruby succeeds in tempting Thork.  But is their love strong enough to overcome the obstacles before them and the powerful enemies and allies that control the movements of the people on the land?
