Rejar by Dara Joy is the sequel to Knight of
a Trillion Stars and, although completely different, is just as good in
it's own way.
Technically this book is part of the Timeswept series, and those of you who are familiar with my time travel reviews may be curious as to why it was not included online before now.
Well I felt that if I did include Rejar it would be necessary to include KOATS too, and because that is definitely not a time travel romance it would be slightly out of place on my site. Now that I have decided to expand my site to include other genres including futuristic it seems appropriate to include both of these books here, and so that you can find them easily, both are in the Futuristic zone because that is the setting for the first of the series. I hope you understood that better than I did reading it back, if not I suggest sit back and enjoy the review :-)
For those of you who have read KOATS be prepared to know that very little of the action in this novel takes place on another planet. As you will recall Rejar stepped into the tunnels at the end of KOATS in place of Lorgin, this story picks up where that left off as Rejar hurtles through the tunnels and lands on Earth. But not Earth of the present - instead Rejar lands in 1811 London and in the carriage of Lilac Devere.
On his arrival on Earth Rejar, a Familiar (a being with the many abilities and powers including the ability to change himself into a cat) is in the form of a cat and while he scouts out the territory he remains in this form and takes advantage of the hospitality of Lilac who takes the stray cat into her home.
It does not take long for Rejar to realise that he is somewhere in Adeeann's world, for although the language is vaguely different there are distinct similarities too, and before too long it is apparent that he has travelled not only through space, but through time.
Trapped in Regency England for the foreseeable future Rejar befriends Lilac in his cat form and becomes the hit of the town as the Russian Prince Nickolai in his human form.
But as a human there is one person he cannot seem to have, Lilac. While all the women of London are intrigued by him and are trying to catch the handsome prince Lilac is determined to have nothing to do with him, a sentiment she confides in her new cat.
In no time at all the amorous feline can be content with no other woman but Lilac as he plots plenty of mischief in order to seduce her, taking full advantage of his Familiar powers (of course).
Personally I think it is only fitting that Rejar, who loved and left woman all through the universe, is forced to trick his way into Lilac's affections.
But time is running out for Rejar as his brothers-of-the-line track him through the tunnels in order to bring him home.
Can he succeed in winning the heart of Lilac before he is forced to leave the planet?
And if he can how will she react to the news that her most persistent beau is really her beloved cat and an alien into the bargain?
A wonderful sequel to Knight of a Trillion Stars and I hope that there will be many more in this series. I would have liked to have seen a little more off the planet action, but this is a timeswept novel and not a futuristic. I hope that the next one is just as good.
All in all I would say this book was just about purrfect. (Sorry - couldn't resist that one).
For the fans of this series there are rumours flying around that there will be four more books in this series. I have heard about two of them, any ideas if this is correct?
