A Perfect Love

A Perfect Love by Sandra LandryA Perfect Love by Sandra Landry is one of the Time Passages series.

Nadine du Monte has been waiting her whole life for the chance to have a perfect love like the one she has witnessed of her parents.

Her perfectly ordered life has everything except that love. Going to a fortune teller after being pestered by a friend she is given mysterious and disturbing advice and even more frightening she finds herself the subject of a mysterious vision.

This is all gone from her mind however when she leaves France for England and arrives there to greet the news that her parents have been killed in a car accident.

Unwilling to wait for the next flight back to France Nadine decides to take the ferry across the English Channel despite her overwhelming fear of water.  She never makes it to France though when she finds herself pulled overboard and catapulted into the past.

Faulk Brookstone is a knight who had gone on the Crusades in an effort to forget the betrayal of his first wife, who had died giving birth to another man's child. Before leaving he had been told a prophecy of the woman who would be the only one to give him an heir.  With golden hair and golden eyes she would have the mark of a rose on her.

Now he has returned after the death of his father and it is he who discovers the unconscious Nadine on the beach near to his home of Whitecastle.

Nadine is at first unaware of her travel through time and believes herself to be in some re-enactment castle, although she cannot see any cameras or people in normal clothing.  She cannot deny her attraction to Faulk but is not prepared to stay with him despite his determination to wed her because of a prophecy.

Demanding to leave Nadine is escorted to Londontown by Faulk and his men and she cannot deny the truth of her eyes.  A simple castle made to look like one of the twelfth century can be arranged but not the entire city of London.

Accepting her position Nadine fabricates a story of amnesia and resists Faulk as she tries to find a way to return to the future.  But she cannot resist for long and finally accepts Faulk to her bed.

Matters are complicated by the arrival of Roland du Monte who claims that he is kin of Nadine and her betrothed.

All three of them travel to Nadine's home of Rosemanor at Rouen.  Faulk is determined to petition King Richard to allow him to wed Nadine and Roland has his own devious plans to follow through.

Meanwhile the longer Nadine remains in the past the more it is clear to her that she had lived there before.  She is now living her past life and in fact taking it up where it had previously been cut short.

With Faulk away chasing after the king Nadine sets about her own enquiries and with the help of her mother, who in this life is still alive, she knows that her father would never have betrothed her to Roland.  Unfortunately her father is no longer alive and cannot tell her who he had planned to betroth her to.  Nadine decides against telling Faulk of a third potential suitor.

But Nadine finds herself in grave danger and the dangers of her past life catch up with her and threaten her happiness.

And even the advice of the witch who prophesised her arrival cannot help her entirely for she has only been told part of the prophecy and only Faulk can ensure that she remains in the past, but is he willing to love her?

A strong plot and everything neatly ties in together at the end.  A good addition to the Time Passages collection and a delightful read.
