Once and Forever

Once and Forever by Constance O'Day-FlanneryOnce and Forever by Constance O’Day-Flannery is a time travel romance set in Elizabethan England.

Maggie Whitaker is at a turning point in her life.  She is turning 40 years old, going through a divorce and has just lost her job.  When her eccentric Aunt Edithe sends her a plane ticket and invites her to England Maggie is only to relieved to leave her problems for a while and take a well earned holiday.

Maggie’s aunt is an enthusiastic participant in historical re-enactments and when Maggie tags along to an Elizabethan faire she is tempted to enter a hedge maze.  But this maze is one with a difference and as she finds herself wandering through it she suddenly realises that she has lost her way both within the maze and within time…she is now in Elizabethan England where the man of her dreams is waiting for her.

Nicholas Layton is a disinherited nobleman who mistakes Maggie for Lady Margaret, the bride of Lord Amesbury.

Thinking Margaret to be strange and possibly unstable he is nonetheless intrigued by her, even though he knows she is promised to another man.

Maggie meanwhile believes that Nick is one of the actors from the faire – one who takes his job way to seriously and is doing nothing less than kidnapping her.  Her thoughts go along the same track as Nick’s…she is attracted to him but thinks that he is strange and unstable.

A match made in heaven of course.

Maggie is eventually convinced of the fact that she has travelled through time and agrees to act out the part of Lady Margaret until her fate can be determined.  Befriending Elthea who reminds her in many ways of her auth Edithe Margaret begins to settle into life in the year 1598.

Tutored by Elthea and Nick, Maggie finds that to pass herself of as Lady Margaret for Lord Robert Amesbury she will have to know more about Elizabethan England and the manners and customs of the people than she ever thought possible.  She will even have to relearn her speech.

Soon the time is upon them when Maggie must face Robert and pass herself off as his bride.  But by this time Nick is unsure he will be able to let her go to another man.

To be together Maggie and Nick must go on the adventure of their lives where danger is close behind them and coming upon them fast.  They cannot outrun it forever, but their love with surely last for eternity.

This is a new setting for Constance O’Day-Flannery but, to use an old cliché, she takes to it like a duck to water.

Filled with intrigue and danger Once and Forever proves that Constance O’Day-Flannery still has what it takes to be Queen of Time Travel Romance.
