Lost Yesterday

Lost Yesterday by Jenny LykinsLost Yesterday by Jenny Lykins is the fourth book in Penguin Putnam's Time Passages series.

In my opinion this one has one of the best endings I have ever read in the time travel romance genre.  Maybe it's just me that didn't see it coming several chapters before or perhaps no one did.  Whatever the case it is very few books that can surprise me at the very last page.  This one managed to.  For that alone this book is excellent.

In 1996 Marin Alexander swore off men after the tragic death of her husband Ryan.  Throwing herself into her work at the museum in the Pierce Hall mansion she finds herself witness to ghostly goings on.  But after a head on collision with a horse and buggy she finds herself in 1876 in the arms of the same ghost and she realises that her promise off men may not be as easy to keep in this century.

In the body of Miss Mari Alexa Sander, she accepts her job as social secretary to her ghost, the handsome Hunter Pierce and companion to his mother.

Despite friction with Hunter's mother, Lucille she continues at her work until she can find a way back to the 20th century.

But there are problems ahead as she poses as another woman, not least of which is Niles Kilpatrick, Mari's Irish fiancé who appears to dinner and is intent upon wedding her at once.

The longer she stays in the 19th century the harder it is for her to face leaving as she finds herself becoming attached to both Hunter and his daughter Katie.   But to be truly happy in the past she must let go of her own memories and start to live again.
