The Heart Remembers by Sandra Davidson is a time travel romance set in the year 1870.
Destiny Davidson has no memories of her early childhood; she does not even know her own real name. But she has taken the hand that fate has given her and made a career out of writing.
Her latest novel is a historical novel set in the year 1838 named One Shining Dawn. While at a book signing a member of the pubic approaches her and suggests that the story really happened and invites Destiny to visit her house and read the original diaries telling the story of Shining Dawn and Blade McAmmon.
Amazed to see her own novel told in the form of a diary she is even more astounded to find herself travelling back in time to the year 1870 where the young baby of the diaries (Colt) is a grown man and time has passed on from the story she wrote about.
Colt Mandrell is celebrating his birthday and believes that the red-haired beauty in his bed is a present from his father. (In fact the red-haired present from him is a horse.) But if she is a present then she is certainly not acting in the way that she should. She claims to be a proper lady despite the scandalous situation they are in.
Destiny can hardly believe that the man whose room she has stumbled into is Colt Mandrell, the young baby of Little Bit and Gary, Shining Dawn and Blades’ oldest friends.
Swept up by the tide of events and off of her feet by Colt, Destiny sets out to uncover the truth about her past and begins the search for her parents. But she has no idea how far she will have to travel to have the answers to all her questions.
As fact and fiction merge in Destiny’s life she struggles to remember her past and alter the course of history thus ensuring that she and Colt have a future together.
Colt meanwhile is not sure whether to accept her story of time travel or not, but there can be no denying that she knows an awful lot about his parents and their friends. Perhaps there is something in her story after all. But no matter where she has come from he knows that he never wants to let her go.
The Heart Remembers is a complex and intriguing story of the strength of the bonds of love, sacrifice and finding your own destiny.
I won’t say much more as this is one of those novels which would be
easy to spoil the plot for…let me just say that it is one of those novels
that when you think you have it all sorted out as to what is going to happen
next, you find you are completely wrong. A great story that keeps
you guessing!
