Sidheach James Lyon Douglas, third Earl of Dalkeith also know as the Hawk is the hero of Karen Marie Moning's Beyond the Highland Mist.

In 1513 Hawk came to the attention of the fae.  And it is they who are responsible for Adrienne de Simone's journey into the past and into the arms of Hawk.

Grimm is Hawk's best friend and it is his wish which the fae hear and grant.  For Grimm wished for Hawk to have
 

"A lass who doesn't want you.  A lovely, nay, an earth-shatteringly beautiful one, with wit and wisdom to boot.  One with a perfect face and a perfect body, and a perfect 'no' on her perfect lips"

Little did he know that Adrienne would not only say no to the womanising Hawk but that she would capture his heart completely during her stay in the past.

Adrienne de Simone has sworn off beautiful men for the rest of her life after being used by one such man.  When she finds herself sent into the past however she is soon living her worst nightmare when she is forced into marriage with Hawk.

In the wrong place at the wrong time Adrienne de Simone is forced to take the place of the murdered bride of the Hawk and can see no way out of her predicament.

Wife to the Hawk she may be, she vows he will not get a chance to use her as other beautiful men have.  But when Hawk defends her with his life and Grimm tells her a few hometruths she realises that it is what inside that counts and that Hawk does love her as much as she is growing to love him.

Unfortunately for the two lovers, Adrienne is in the past at the whim of the fae and she finds herself catapulted from the past to the future and back again countless times before she and Hawk can find a way to free her from their games.

A fast-paced and entertaining story which blends fairy magic, time travel and romance with the expertise you would expect from established authors.  For a debut novel it is more than outstanding and we can but wait with baited breath for the next instalment in this tale.  For we are left with a tantalising taste of what is to come when Adrienne wishes something, we know not what, on poor Grimm, the star of the upcoming release later this year from Karen Marie Moning.
