Frankly, My Dear...

Frankly, My Dear... by Sandra HillFrankly, My Dear... by Sandra Hill is in parts a hysterical parody of Gone With The Wind.  I myself have read both Gone With The Wind and Scarlett, the sequel and found both of them very good.  But neither had me in stitches like this book did.

This part of the Timeswept series and is the story of Selene (Sandra Selente), a model with a passion for men, food and Gone With The Wind.

After deciding that her passion for food is in contrast with her work she decides to return to her education after one final job in New Orleans.

But this is not meant to be as she finds herself the subject of a voodoo curse and trapped in the year 1845.

After consulting a voodoo priestess she discovers that there is a way for her to return home and decides that until that time arrives she will enjoy herself in the past.

Selene latches onto the mysterious and temperamental James Baptiste, who she soon sees as her own Rhett Butler.

Taken to his bayou plantation she soon realises that she does not want to return to the 20th century.

But James's past seems determined to keep them apart as he is haunted by the spirit of his first wife and the murderous intentions of his half brother.

Settling herself into the plantation Selene soon sets about winning the approval of the servants and James's son Etienne (who incidentally is the star of  Sweeter Savage Love )

Torturing the locals with her contact lenses and false eyelashs she is soon viewed as some sort of voodoo queen herself.  Adding fuel to the rumours are the thick (collagen injected lips) and all over body tan.

Hysterical in parts and delightful in all this is a wonderful time travel tale that leaves you wanting more.  And for the curious amongst you, the more can be in the form of  Desperado the main characters of which appear briefly towards the end of this fantastic novel.
