A Dance Through Time

A Dance Through Time by Lynn Kurland A Dance Through Time by Lynn Kurland is the first book in a continuing series published by  Jove/Putnam Berkley  entitled Time Passages.

Elizabeth Smith is a romance writer living in New York City.  Her life is in a rut until the day she falls asleep in Gramercy Park and awakes in the beautiful highlands of Scotland in the year 1311.

James MacLeod is Laird of Clan MacLeod and the man who has called Elizabeth across time to be with him.  If only he could remember doing so things might be easier on Elizabeth when she enters his woman-free castle.  For James first order is to throw her into the dungeon - something which does not go down too well with Elizabeth or his own men.  However she is not down there for too long and soon becomes a reluctant guest of the Laird.

Appalled by the dirt and manners of the inhabitants Elizabeth wastes no time in whipping everyone into shape and soon becomes a well loved member of the castle.

She takes to her situation with humour and hard work.  Once she and James fall in love there is only thing that continues to bother her.  That is that she cannot remember what she read about the future of James.  It is only after she has altered history that she recalls the circumstances of his death and realises that together they must try to repair the damage they may now have caused throughout time.

With multiple time travellers this story is enthralling from beginning to end and worth reading over and over again.

I certainly hope that eventually Zachary (Elizabeth's youngest brother) gets his own story.  It is long overdue.
