Crystal Memories by Ginny Aiken is the eighth book in the continuing
Time Passages series published by
Putnam
Berkley/Jove
This is the story of Amelia Baldwin, a lonely orphan who falls through
a stage floor into the year 1900, into the body of another woman who shares
her name.
Set in Winona, Minnesota, a small town, with small town gossips, Amelia decides to use her talent with a needle and thread to earn a living. But her plans go to the wall when she finds herself duty bound to care and raise the two year old daughter of the tormented Michael Hayak.
Amelia is not only expected to care for the mischievous Katie, but to keep the farm in order and worst of all cook.
Using the excuse of memory loss Amelia convinces everyone but Michael that she is in fact the 1900 Amelia. Only Michael remains unconvinced.
As she settles into 1900 she finds that she does not want to leave and as she falls for Michael she is scared that she will be thrust back to the 1990's as quickly as she was taken away.
And if that wasn't enough to scare her witless, she finds that as she remains in the past she can remember memories that do not belong to her.
A delightful tale of time travel this is a book I could not put down until I had turned the last page, without ruining the plot for other readers there is little else I can say about this book other than you can buy it online.
