Anywhere You Are

Anywhere You Are by Constance O'Day-Flannery
Anywhere You Are is the long awaited novel which proclaims the return of Constance O'Day-Flannery to the time travel romance genre.

This is the story of a woman who has turned her back on the conventional life to be with her brother Bryan as he fulfils his dream of living his life to the full after being diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Bryan's latest "Indiana Jones" adventure sees him and Mairie on board a plane and about to embark on a skydive into the unknown over the Nevada desert.

Mairie is doing the jump out of love for her brother - she never expects that the terrifying experience will result in her being parted from her only family by more than a century.

But that is exactly what happens because when Mairie jumps from the plane she finds herself swept back in time where she learns of a cure that could save her brother's life and makes it her mission to return to him with the lifesaving herb.

Jack Delaney has returned from the American Civil War to the home he knew as a child with the peaceful Paiute Indians.  In order to find his own peace he goes up into the mountains on a vision quest and as he asks for a gift of hope he is astonished to see his gift falling from the heavens above.

But his "gift" is not at all what he expected.  She calls herself Mairie and speaks of cities, flying machines and voices travelling through the air.  And strangest of all she insists it is the year 1999.

When Mairie lands in the desert she knows from the beginning she is lost - the city of Las Vegas was nowhere in sight as she decended and the only person around is a strange man who is either suffering from a breakdown or completely insane.  How else could he believe it is the year 1877?

Still Mairie has no choice but to let him lead her to the Indian village and let them tend her injured ankle which she hurt on landing.

Convincing herself that she has stumbled on a village which has turned from modern technology she enlists Jack's help to get her to Las Vegas.  When she arrives there however she can deny it no longer, Jack is not insane - it is she who is out of time and trapped in the 19th century.

Learning of the cure for her brother she is determined to find a way back to him so that she can share her knowledge.  But when her chance arises she is dismayed to learn she will not be able to take anything with her and her quest takes a dangerous turn as she and Jack return to the mountains in a desperate attempt to get Mairie home.

Added to this dangerous quest is the added ingrediant of romance as Mairie and Jack begin to realise that they are in falling in love with each other and are unable to express their feelings, knowing that they will have to part when Mairie returns home.

A novel in two parts it is set against the serene backdrop of the Las Vegas of 100 years ago and the glitzy gambling city of the present.

This is a story of love, trust and overcoming the odds.  A brilliant novel which has been well worth the wait.  An assortment of characters both in the past and the present add to this story and the suspense is handled with the expertise we come to expect from this author.

We welcome Ms O'Day-Flannery back to the time travel genre and hope that as long as she delivers romances like this one she will not leave for so long again.
