After the Storm

After the Storm by Susan Sizemore
After the Storm by Susan Sizemore is the sequel to the awarding winning Wings of the Storm.

After the disappointing first half of Wings of the Storm I was pleased to find that this novel has just as much mystery to it and much more interaction between the hero and heroine.

Libby and her colleagues on the Time Search team have come back to the Middle Ages in the hope of regaining their memories which were lost in an experiment gone wrong.

Traveling to her father's estate in the past she is intending to study outlaws during her time in the past.  But when she meets the handsome outlaw Bastien of Bale she cannot help but break her own rule of getting too involved with the locals.

Bastien of Bale is a man who will capture Libby's heart and show her the love she has known only once before, in a time her memory won't let her recall.

Traveling with the rest of her team she cannot seem to recall any of her memories that can unlock the door to the last four years of her life.  When Bastien's men are captured she helps them in the dungeons in order to help her research and then she plots to help them escape from Sir Stephan.

Bastien like Libby is suffering from a loss of memory.  He however has forgotten everything from his life except his name.  Only in nightmarish dreams does he recall anything, and then he is tormented by the wife he cannot recall and the guilt he feels over losing her.

And as each try to piece together their pasts they find their lives are woven together and neither Bastien's memory of his wife nor the rules of the Time Search can prevent them from coming together in the past.

But there is much more happening than either of them know about and one member of the Time Search team is manipulating events to his own advantage in order to sabotage the project.

Like its prequel this is an intricately woven story that saying any more about could ruin the well though out plots for future readers.

But needless to say that this is a gripping tale of outlaws in the middle ages and a woman of the future who finds her life is entwined with their leader.  A woman who will risk all to regain her memory and build a future with her outlaw.

Personally I enjoyed this book more than Wings of the Storm, mainly because there is much more interaction between the hero and heroine.  However I would suggest to everyone that both books should be read in order to fully appreciate them.
